Ow.
Just got back from my second ever Mat Pilates class. I am convinced that "pilates" is Roumanian for "doing things your body was never meant to do." There were a lot of times I just had to lie there on the mat and watch every body else, because there was NO WAY I could do what the instructor said.

I love love love Pilates. But when I first did it, yeah, I had the same reaction you're having. What's awesome is when it starts to work, and all of a sudden you can do the stuff that seemed impossible before. That stuff REALLY works your core muscles better than almost anything else. When I got to study at Alvin Ailey for a semester, most of the teachers there included Pilates stuff in their warmup. And, man, was I TOUGH at that point. Loved it. :)
Proud of you and your exercise class! Just being there and trying to keep up is a big step. You go!!
