Make That Six

After church and mongolian bbq, drove by the scrapbooking store in Willowbrook which has been there at least 7 years. i wanted to see what their hours were so i could see if they had that pink ribbon stamp.
closed. empty. for lease.
so, if you're thinking of going into business for yourself? don't open a scrapbooking store.

Terri,

Yes, the local scrapbooks stores have gone belly up lately. Memories (which was a national chain) in Willowbrook was ruined by the corporate take over by PaperZone. A local buyer wanted to buy it, but that fell through. The store on 529, Moments in Time, closed abruptly and no one seems to know why. The place down on Hollister, Scrapping with Grammy has been closed quite a while, and I still had money on a gift certificate there! Not sure what happened.

Lone Star Scrapbooks in The Woodlands is great, it's my favorite. Archiver's is a chain and new out in Katy, corner of Fry and I-10. Also, in Katy is Maridawns, on Mason, just south of I-10.

I think for most of the non-chain local stores that scrapbookers open, the work load becomes overwhelming, and takes lots more time than imagined, just my opinion. And, since they can't buy in bulk like either chains or the big craft stores, it's gotta be hard to turn a profit.

Hobby Lobby and Michael's have both beefed up their SB supplies, especially HL.

Have you looked online for the stamp you want? I imagine Lone Star or Archivers will carry it in Oct. since that is breast cancer awareness month.
